With a broad portfolio of innovative solutions and a proactive commercial team, Ricoh was ready to take its sales communication to the next level. The company recognized an opportunity to improve how its value propositions were conveyed across different teams, in terms of message clarity, storytelling and visual identity.
The goal was ambitious: empower every sales representative to deliver impactful, on-brand presentations while preserving the flexibility to tailor pitches to different clients. It was time to enhance what was already working and turn every pitch into a strategic asset.
MLC partnered with Ricoh to design a transformative project aimed at enhancing the consistency, clarity and effectiveness of their commercial communication. MLC developed a hybrid, hands-on program that included a workshop on storytelling principles, a live pitch competition, and an end-to-end redesign of key sales materials. SOLUTION
To support Ricoh in elevating its commercial communication, MLC crafted a comprehensive program that went far beyond a traditional workshop.
We designed a fully tailored experience that combined strategic storytelling, hands-on workshops, collaborative redesign of sales materials, and a dynamic pitch competition.
This hybrid journey allowed Ricoh’s sales teams to learn new techniques and to apply them immediately in a real-world simulation. The result was a set of sales pitches that were more effective, visually aligned and strategically sound, ready to make a stronger impact.
Rather than simply delivering a training session or redesigning a set of slides, we designed a collaborative journey that engaged the Ricoh team from start to finish. Our approach was based on three key pillars: training, consulting, and visual redesign, seamlessly integrated to create a truly immersive experience.
Ricoh’s teams were not passive recipients of knowledge, but co-creators of their own transformation. By blending training with strategic consulting and a consistent design system, we helped them internalize the principles of great communication and apply them confidently. The goal was never just to fix slides, but it was to enable a deeper, more powerful way to tell the story behind each solution.
We could have stopped at the workshop. Or we could have taken over the slides and redesigned everything ourselves. Instead, we did both… and more. The insight was to combine the power of awareness through training, with the precision of design through consulting, all while keeping the client in the driver’s seat.
At the heart of this project was a simple but powerful realization: transformation happens when people are involved, not just informed. From the beginning, we saw that Ricoh didn’t need a one-size-fits-all training or a top-down redesign of their slides. What they needed was an approach that combined education with execution, that empowered their salespeople to become owners of the message, not just messengers.
We kicked off with a live workshop, focused on the principles of an effective sales pitch. Then came the turning point: a pitch competition. Divided by product teams, each group rewrote their story, redesigned their slides and prepared to simulate a client meeting.
During the competition, each team had limited time to pitch in front of a jury, including Ricoh top managers playing the role of sceptical clients and MLC experts evaluating clarity, structure and persuasion.
After the competition, MLC gathered feedback, analysed the storytelling strategies, and reworked each presentation. We fine-tuned the messaging, unified the visual identity, and engaged in one-to-one sessions with the sales managers, ensuring each deck became a strategic, branded tool ready to be used across meetings and markets.
RESULTS
Thanks to this integrated approach, Ricoh achieved a remarkable evolution in the way its sales force communicates. Presentations became visually consistent and fully aligned with the brand, while the sales narratives grew sharper, clearer, and more focused on each product’s unique value.
